Wihlborgs has signed a lease with Emmaus Björkå, which is opening a large second-hand store at Södra Förstadsgatan 14 in central Malmö.

On 1 July, Emmaus Björkå will open a 1,450 m² store in the Elefanten 40 property, located at the junction of Storgatan/Södra Förstadsgatan.

“Emmaus Björkå will be an exciting addition to the retail trade in the centre of Malmö. It is pleasing to gain a tenant that promotes reuse and that focuses on a sustainable business model in the city centre. As property company, we are also promoting sustainability through a green lease with renewable energy to the store, for example. We look forward to collaborating with Emmaus Björkå to develop a more sustainable Malmö,” says Staffan Fredlund, Environmental Manager for Wihlborgs.

“It is obvious to us that reselling pre-owned items is one cornerstone of the major transformation taking place in Sweden. It is also therefore, a natural step that when a new store opens in Malmö’s possibly prime business location, that it is a store that focuses completely on environmental and social sustainability,” says Sara Lindgren, Operational Manager for Emmaus Björkå.

The ground floor of the property also houses Gina Tricot, Espresso House and Pressbyrån. The remaining storeys include office premises for the Swedish Customs and the City of Malmö. In spring 2019, about 9,000 m² of office space will become available when the Swedish Customs moves to Wihlborgs’ Dungen office project in Hyllie.
