Wihlborgs has signed a 15-year lease with Region Skåne for 3,700 m2 at Kranen 2 in Malmö. The lease was signed after Wihlborgs won a tender subject to the Swedish Public Procurement Act.

The lease pertains to premises for the Reproductive Medicine Center (RMC) and a speech therapy reception, both of which are currently in the grounds of Malmö hospital.

“Region Skåne is an important and major tenant for us and it’s gratifying that we’ve found a way to solve yet another premises need here in Dockan by developing an existing property. This breathes new life into the building with operations that are actually closely involved in creating life. I’m convinced that both employees and visitors will appreciate the area’s qualities, with its proximity to the sea, city centre and good public transport options. Kranen 2, which also includes Malmö University’s police training, has really become a public property,” says Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs.

The premises will be redesigned to meet the needs of the new operations and occupancy is scheduled for October 2021.

Kranen 2 was built as an equipment and assembly plant for Kockums in 1964. After the closure of the shipyard, both Lund University and Malmö University have conducted training there. In autumn 2019, Malmö University moved its police training to 10,700 m² encompassing teaching and research facilities, training environments and garage space.
