Don’t get steamed up about energy prices
Winterhalter’s UC Energy machines keep warewashing costs down as energy prices rise
Traditionally, warewashing has been a huge consumer of resources. With energy prices expected to rise by some 8% in 2013 (according to MoneyExpert.com) pubs, bars and restaurants will be looking at how to cut their energy bills - especially when it comes to warewashing.
With this in mind Winterhalter developed the UC Energy undercounter dishwasher and glasswasher. It not only offers users substantial savings in energy costs but also improves the working environment around the warewasher, through its innovative use of heat exchange technology.
The UC Energy is the only undercounter machine to offer such a mini heat exchange recovery system. It extracts the heat from vapour within the machine and uses it to pre-heat the incoming cold fill. In this way, energy consumption is reduced by 0.1kWh per cycle. So if the machine is put through 80 cycles per day, it can save up to 2920 kWh per year which equates to £320 per year if prices rise by 8%.
In addition, almost no hot damp water vapour escapes from the machine when the door is opened – which is particularly important in busy back bar situations where steam can ruin the atmosphere for both staff and customers.
The UC Energy is easy to operate, simply push the start button, and it checks itself while in use, keeping staff up to date on machine status through visual and acoustic signals, identifying any problems.
A fourfold filtration system keeps the wash water constantly clean so there is no need to change the water during the working day, further saving energy. The degree of wash can be adjusted for different types of glasses and dishes, such as lower pressure for fragile wine glasses and higher pressure for robust beer mugs, while at all times achieving perfectly clean and hygienic results.
Winterhalter provides a total solution for warewashing, from pre-sales advice to after-sales service, training and maintenance. Alongside its market-leading dish and glasswashers, the company’s range includes utensil washers, advanced water treatment machines, cleaning chemicals and detergents.
