Operations of Metsä Group’s Merikarvia sawmill to close down
The change negotiations concerning the Merikarvia sawmill of Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, which began in January, have ended. After the change negotiations, the company decided to close down the operations of the Merikarvia sawmill by the end of June 2024.The negotiations concerned all 79 employees of the sawmill. The negotiations covered the reasons for the closure of the sawmill, the possible substantial and permanent reduction in work resulting from the planned closure and the necessary personnel arrangements.
