Regarding retrieval of radioactive waste from Forsmark
In the late 1990s about 2,800 “S.14 packages” containing radioactive waste were deposited at the SKB final repository in Forsmark. Of these, 1,074 were packaged by Studsvik Nuclear AB, while the remainder had already been packaged when the Studsvik facility was still owned by the Swedish State. When the Studsvik facility was privatized, AB SVAFO was established, under the ownership of the nuclear power companies, to manage older waste and some facilities.
