Vattenfall announces major wind power supply deal with Microsoft
Vattenfall has signed a ten-year agreement to power Microsoft’s international data center operations in the Netherlands with wind power. The wind power supply deal is the first to date for Vattenfall to a data center outside the Nordic countries and the largest in this field based entirely on wind power.According to the agreement, Microsoft will receive one hundred percent of the energy output from Vattenfall’s new onshore wind farm that will be constructed at Wieringermeer polder, near Microsoft’s data center in the Netherlands. The wind farm will start producing renewable energy from 2019.
