Academics from Staffordshire University are warning of a “pending poverty catastrophe” in Stoke-on-Trent unless urgent action is taken to address the worsening situation.A new report , co-authored with Citizens Advice Staffordshire North and Stoke-on-Trent (CASNS), aims to update the picture of poverty and social distress in the city following cuts to Universal Credit and the withdrawal of the furlough scheme.
