Stockholm, Sweden – Epidemic Sound, the soundtracking platform for content creation, has today announced that Space Ape Games has chosen music by its artists to feature in the popular mobile music game, Beatstar.

The game, which has 70 million players worldwide, sees players tap and swipe to a track’s instruments, vocals, or beats, and experience music in a new way. The game now features tracks by Epidemic Sound artists Loving Caliber, dasloe feat. Adelyn Paik, and Alphascan alongside the likes of Billie Eilish, Post Malone, The Weeknd and Nirvana.

Jessica Ashton, Music Licensing Lead at Space Ape commented: “We’ve been working with Epidemic Sound for backing soundtracks for our games for a while now. We wanted to find a better way of highlighting the talent of Epidemic Sound artists, so we licensed several tracks to use in our hit music rhythm game, Beatstar. Adding Epidemic Sound artists to the game allows our 70m worldwide players to interact with music and artists they potentially wouldn’t have discovered. We’ve seen a positive response from our players discovering these artists for the first time, and we look forward to continuing the collaboration between Beatstar and Epidemic Sound.”

The first track included is the pop anthem Faster Car by Loving Caliber, which shot into the limelight after it was chosen by the gaming YouTuber, Aphmau (over 20 million subscribers) to soundtrack her videos. Since then it has amassed over 100 million streams across online platforms. The game will also feature the K-pop banger sunny day, sunny day by dasloe feat. Adelyn Paik, the trance tune Archangel by Alphascan, and more Epidemic Sound tracks are scheduled to be introduced later this year.

Beatstar, which encourages players to engage with and share new music, looks set to provide further opportunities for artists to reach new listeners and grow their fanbase.

Loving Caliber added: “It’s great to see our music out there in such a popular game. We all love the game and have played it before, which makes this feature even more special for us. Working with Epidemic Sound to secure these types of features has proved to be a great way to help me connect with new and existing audiences over the years. It’s really helped us build our following and we’re excited to see the effect Beatstar has for us.”

The announcement marks Epidemic Sound’s latest engagement with the gaming industry, recently partnering with Ubisoft to soundtrack The Crew Motorfest, as well as releasing its “The Sound of Gamers” report.
