Balder launches green bond framework

Report this content

Fastighets AB Balder today launches a framework for green bonds with the aim of financing projects that contribute to a reduced environmental impact.

The framework gives Balder the opportunity to issue green bonds, with the condition that the issue proceeds are only used for financing projects and assets covered by the green bond framework. This primarily concerns green and energy-efficient buildings, but also investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

- Balder has green loans with both banks and the EIB, and it is a natural step to also issue green bonds, says Marcus Hansson, Head of Finance at Balder.

Balder's green bond framework has been developed together with Nordea, in line with the industry standard Green Bond Principles 2018. The framework has undergone an independent evaluation by Cicero Shades of Green, and has been awarded the rating Medium Green. Balder will annually publish a Green Bond Impact Report with an account of how the funds have been used.
