Golf’s most famous trophy, the Ryder Cup, will make a visit to a Leeds golf club on Thursday 27th June 2013. As part of its Centenary celebrations, Garforth Golf Club will host the visit, giving members the chance to fulfil many golfer’s dream – being photographed holding the cup aloft! Credit for the Ryder Cup visit goes to the club’s Professional, Ken Findlater. Edwardian clothing and hickory sticks for one day only at Garforth Golf Club

Sunday 7 July 2013Garforth Golf Club’s Centenary year will see the clock being turned back 100 years on Sunday 7 July, when the club hosts an Edwardian Golf Day as part of its special programme of centenary events. The British Golf Collectors Society has agreed to a challenge where their members will play with and against members of Garforth Golf Club. Play will be over the full 18 holes of the Alister MacKenzie designed course and players will be dressed in Edwardian outfits as were the first golfers to enjoy the course back in 1913.The golfers will be using hickory shafted golf clubs

A winning start to the year for Garforth Golf Club

A team of four golfers from the Garforth Golf Club have helped kick start the club’s Centenary year by winning the annual Leeds and District Golf Union Second Division team championship at Low Laithes Golf Club. The Garforth team of Ian Doughty, Peter Muldoon, Kevan Vincent and John Dexter held off the challenge of local rivals, Headingley and Horsforth. “This is a tough competition to win and it's a great achievement for Garforth. Dave Carlisle named as runner-up in the Golf Club Manager AwardsA prestigious awards dinner organised by the Golf Club Managers’ Association saw a West Yorkshire manager recognised as the best in England. Dave Carlisle from Garforth Golf Club was runner up in the UK-wide ‘Manager of the Year’ awards, with only one club manager in Scotland rated more highly. Dave joined Garforth Golf Club in 2010 and has since become an important member of the Club’s Management Team, delivering year on year growth in profit and membership, which has enabled the Club to refurbish many of its facilities.

Centenary year tees off for Garforth Golf Club

The new Captain driving off from a new first tee marked the start of a celebratory year for Garforth Golf Club, Leeds, which is marking its centenary in 2013. Incoming Captain and former Yorkshire and Leeds Golf Union Captain, Andy King hit a long straight drive to open the celebratory season.
