Peab renovates university in Norway

Peab has been commissioned to renovate and rebuild the University of Tromsø, Narvik campus, in Northern Norway. The customer is Statsbygg and the contract is worth NOK 132 million.

The Narvik campus of the University of Tromsø was built in part in 1969, and in part in 1997. The oldest building is going to be renovated and rebuilt.

“This part of the project comprises the renovation and rebuilding of some 7,000 m2,” says Gro Skaar Knutsen, Region Manager Peab.

The building from 1997 contains a machine hall and a half floor of 207 m2 will be built inside.

“We will also renovate all the facades on the building from 1969, which in total are about 4,000 m2,” says Gro Skaar Knutsen.

The project is a turnkey contract and construction will begin in April 2019. Occupation is planned for June 2020.

The project will be order registered in the first quarter of 2019.
