Probi’s Indian IBS study published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology
Both the intensity and the frequency of the key symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) declined significantly following ingestion of Probi’s bacteria Lactobacillus plantarum 299v. These are the principal findings of the Indian study from 2009 on 214 IBS patients which has now been published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG 2012 August 14; 18(30): 4012-4018). The study was performed as a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled parallel group over a period of four weeks and was concluded at the end of 2009. Measurable symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating and
