National charities working together for young people

Sports Leaders UK and Clubs for Young People have joined forces to develop a shared post, benefiting both organisations and the young people with whom they work in the North West. Both organisations are looking to new collaborative ventures and coming together to support this post was an ideal opportunity. Sports Leaders UK Outreach Centre wins Big Society Award

Sports Leaders UK is delighted to announce that one of its local Outreach Centres, Make a Difference, has been recognised for its positive action and volunteering work, when this week it received the Prime Minister’s Big Society Award. Make a Difference is a Milton Keynes based project that inspires young people to improve their lives and the lives of others through positive action and volunteering. Providing opportunities for unemployed young people

Five young unemployed people have been offered a six month work placement with Sports Leaders UK, thanks to a grant from the Future Jobs Fund. Connor Hardy, Imade Owobu, Michael Wilkinson, Ben Criddle and Jacob Cox were recently appointed to the roles, which are based at Sports Leaders UK Outreach Centres in Bristol, Southwark, Nottingham, Manchester and Milton Keynes. Thursday pm – Confidence is building It’s the last tutoring session for the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership course, and we’ve got an hour and a half of theory, the same of practical. Candidates have often been working or in lectures all day, so we keep the theory concise and energetic, and then focus on practical skills. By this stage candidates’ confidence is really starting to build, and ideas are flowing.
