    Tibnor plans to adjust cost structure

    SSAB’s subsidiary Tibnor plans to adjust operations due to lower demand and profitability. The measures aim at annual costs savings of approximately SEK 150 million and cover all Tibnor business areas and countries with the exception of the Baltic countries.     SSAB has received approval from the European Commission to sell Tibnor Oy, Finland to Ovako AB. This transaction is part of the divestment remedies that the European Commission deemed necessary for the combination of Rautaruukki with SSAB.     SSAB announces price increases

    SSAB EMEA is raising its prices for hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized coil, as well as heavy plate. Prices are being increased by at least SEK 300 per tonne. The price increases apply to all orders acknowledged after December 5th, 2012. “There has been a perceptible decline in steel prices during 2012. The price increases that we are now making reflects the development in the market.     Tibnor supplies steel for LKAB’s ore wagons

    The Nordic steel distributor Tibnor is an important player when more ore is to be mined in northern Sweden. More than 1,000 new ore wagons have been constructed by Kiruna Wagon, with Tibnor supplying the steel for the ore baskets. The fifteenth train set is currently under production.In total, 15 new train sets for Malmbanan (the iron ore railroad) are involved, with 68 wagons in each set.
