Volvo Buses receives order for 90 electrified buses from Brussels

Volvo Buses has received an order for 90 hybrid buses from Brussels. With this order, the company has now sold more than 4000 electrified buses to customers the world over.The 90 Volvo 7900 Hybrids were ordered by STIB-MIVB, which provides public transport in Brussels. Most of the buses will be delivered and will enter regular traffic this year. The order also includes service and maintenance of the buses, which will be handled by Volvo Trucks Center Brussels.  With the new hybrid buses, Brussels is taking a significant step in expansion and modernisation of the city’s public transport.

The Belgian cities of Charleroi and Namur have together ordered 90 Volvo 7900 Electric Hybrid buses as well as 12 charging stations. The buyer is public transport company TEC Group. Successful year for Gothenburg’s electric bus service

After one year of electric bus service on route 55 in Gothenburg, it is clear that the expectations have been surpassed by a wide margin. The buses and bus stops received a high rating by passengers and drivers alike, and the technology worked very dependably. Over the past year the service has carried about 1.2 million passengers. Volvo has received an order for 5 electric hybrid buses from bus operator AVL (Autobus de la ville de Luxembourg). Electric bus chargers will be supplied by ABB.
