A musical love child is born. Roskilde Festival, known over the world to give the audience some of the very best music experiences by presenting an overflow of music in all genres, is now entering a collaboration with music streaming service WiMP. WiMP of course also represents an overflow of music and the basic love of music from both Roskilde Festival and WiMP therefore creates a breeding ground for a fruitful and solid cooperation.

Music lovers from all over the Nordic countries annually flock to the Roskilde Festival, and so it was natural for the Nordic music streaming service WiMP to enter into a partnership, focusing on value-added distribution of the popular festivals' versatile program. WiMP's three teams of Nordic music editors work daily to provide users with varied musical experiences including introducing the stars of tomorrow, day-actual names and more established acts. Just as the Roskilde Festival has spoiled their participants over the last 41 years.

"As a music service and a music festival respectively, WiMP and Roskilde Festival are traditionally in different places in the musical landscape, but the approach to what we are doing is basically the same. It is about giving the listener a richer musical life. A partnership, focusing on showcasing Roskilde Festival's rich music program for music lovers throughout the Nordic region is a bit of a dream for us. Our music editors are also eager festival-goers and look forward to diving into the music and create unique experiences both on WiMP and at the festival site", said Thor Martin Jensen, Global Editorial Manager for WiMP.

In practical terms, the partnership means that the music from the Roskilde Festival's universe is now only one click away. WiMP in all countries will have its own Roskilde page, where you will find the music from the artists who will play at this year's festival, playlists created by Roskilde artists, playlists on the basis of this year's program, recommendations from both WiMP and the Roskilde music group, reviews of Roskilde history, competitions, interviews with Roskilde bands and much more. In addition, WiMP will of course also be present at the festival site with a listening post, where you can explore the music and get relevant music recommendations.

"It is important to us that our audience has the opportunity to discover some of the lesser known names in the program - and preferably before the concerts are held. Therefore, cooperation with WiMP is a great match because we can now better than ever before help our music loving festival goers find exactly their new favorite band among the approx. 200 artists we have on the program", said Roskilde Festival's music director Rikke Øxner.

There is also much more in the pipeline in relation to this exciting collaboration. Watch the Roskilde-page in WiMP and WiMP local blogs for more.

The Roskilde Festival 2012 takes place on 5 - 8 July, warm-up from 30 June - 4th July.
