UPM paid EUR 61 million as incentives to employees in 2019

(UPM, Helsinki, 28 February 2020 at 10:15 EET) - UPM paid a total of EUR 61 million as short-term incentives to employees in 2019. The incentives were paid for the good 2018 results. The figures are outlined in UPM's Annual Report that was published today. Over the last five years, the sum has been EUR 61 million per year on average. UPM's incentive schemes brought on average an additional 6.6% of annual income globally to personnel in the 46 countries of operations. At the end of 2019, UPM had 18,742 employees. According to Husqvarna AB´s articles of association, owners of Class A shares have the right to have such shares converted to Class B shares. Conversion reduces the total number of votes in Husqvarna AB. When such a conversion has occurred, the company is obligated by the Act on Trading in Financial Instruments to disclose any such change. Summary of 2019After a strong start of the year, where the actions taken to improve profitability showed result in the second half of the year, volumes dropped as expected due to lower demand from our customers. The slowdown that started in Q3 2019 continued and had a significant impact on volumes during Q4 seems to have flattened out.
