Componenta doubles its production capacity of aluminium components to 25,000 ton/year by building a green field aluminium plant in Manisa, Turkey. Componenta changes pricing cycle due to huge increase of raw material prices

Prices for main raw materials like recycled steel scrap and pig iron produced from iron ore have risen more than 100 % between end of last year and June 2008. Componenta is therefore adopting a price balancing system that updates the effect of raw material prices on a monthly basis instead of the earlier quarterly adjustments.The raw material price compensation system introduced by Componenta in 2004 with quarterly evaluation periods has proven not to be able to follow the rapid changes fast enough. Componenta and Metso Foundries Jyväskylä agree on technology transfer for automatic moulding line

Componenta Corporation has signed an agreement with Metso Foundries Jyväskylä Oy to transfer technology for Metso’s automatic moulding line to Componenta. Metso Foundries Jyväskylä Oy will discontinue production on this line by 30 September 2008. The cooperation agreement signed will enable to continue to supply castings to Metso’s customers without disruption during the transition period and afterwards. Componenta Group’s result after financial items excluding one-time items totalled EUR 14.9 (5.0) million in 2007. The result fell short of the forecast given earlier. Componenta has signed a contract with Moventas Oy under which the Group’s foundries in Iisalmi, Finland and in Heerlen, the Netherlands will supply Moventas with castings for wind generator gear components with a total value of EUR 70 million over the period 2009 - 2011.
