Gas strengthened its position as road vehicle fuel – number of gas cars on Finnish roads almost doubled in 2018
The number of gas-fueled cars increased again in Finland. There were several factors behind gas being more commonly used as a fuel, such as willingness to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from transport and the highly popular campaign offering biogas at a fixed price. The scrapping incentive and support for gas car conversions introduced at the start of 2018 have also contributed towards the increase of gas-fueled cars in Finland. The winner of The Voice of Finland singing competition starting in January will not only receive the title but also gets to choose an environmentally friendly gas-fueled car to use for a year from the SEAT TGI gas hybrid range running on low-emission and environmentally friendly biogas. The prize also includes a year’s worth of free biogas from Gasum gas filling stations.Season 8 of the popular singing competition The Voice of Finland kicks off in January on the Finnish TV channel Nelonen. Driving on gas is undergoing strong growth in Finland. Gasum has now opened its first new gas filling station in 2018 in conjunction with the IKEA store in Lommila, Espoo. The new filling station is part of the circular economy collaboration between Gasum and IKEA Finland where biogas is produced from food waste of Finland’s IKEA restaurants. In this context, gas filling stations are also introduced at IKEA stores, enabling the use of biogas in IKEA Finland’s own operations as well as for its transport partners and consumers.The number of gas-fueled vehicles is increasing at a record rate
