    Saint-Gobain’s new slag processing plant in Raahe, Finland is now under construction and will complete next year.     Waste heat from SSAB Hämeenlinna to be used in district heating network

    SSAB and energy company Loimua have agreed on the utilization of waste heat from SSAB Hämeenlinna (Finland) in the Hämeenlinna district heating network. Loimua will build a heating and cooling plant on SSAB's site. The plant will have a heating capacity of around 10 MW and produce approximately 70 GWh of district heat per year. This corresponds to the heating needs of approximately 3,000 single-family houses and covers around 15% of Hämeenlinna's heating needs.     SSAB Europe and VR Transpoint, which is responsible for VR's logistics business, have initiated a joint project to electrify heavy-duty industry transports.     New roof for 16 apartment buildings in Ukraine with roofing products donated by SSAB & Ruukki

    Humanitarian reconstruction work in Ukraine, coordinated by the Swedish charity organization OperationAid, has progressed to repair houses damaged by Russian aggression. In January 2024, sixteen apartment buildings in the Mykolaiv region were renovated with roofing materials donated by SSAB and Ruukki. The war in Ukraine continues with devastating effects. To help people in need, we donated approximately 2,500 square meters of roofing materials for the reconstruction in December 2023.     SSAB in Italy now runs production with fossil-free energy

    SSAB Swedish Steel S.p.A, established in Ghedi, Italy in 1995, installed solar panels on the roof of their production facility at the end of 2023. The SSAB Ghedi Steel Service Center production now operates fully with fossil-free energy, supporting SSAB’s strategy towards a more sustainable world. The new steel roof for the SSAB Ghedi Steel Service Center uses a trapezoidal profile provided by Ruukki Construction, a division of the SSAB Group, and is made from sustainable GreenCoat® color coated steel. GreenCoat® color coated steels use Swedish rapeseed oil in the coating.

    SSAB AB has successfully issued two five-year senior unsecured sustainability-linked bonds of the combined amount SEK 2,100 million under its EUR 2bn EMTN programme, dated 12 May 2023. The new bonds are due in June 2028 and carry a coupon of 3m Stibor +170 bps for the floating rate notes (SEK 600mn) respectively 4.875% for the fixed rate notes (SEK 1.500mn).     SSAB and Fortum will launch a FEED* study to explore the possibilities of making hydrogen-reduced sponge iron also in Raahe.
