Wärtsilä enters South American energy storage market with supply of 8 MW / 32 MWh energy storage system to the leading Chilean power generation company Colbun to accelerate decarbonisation
Wärtsilä Corporation, Trade press release, 30 November 2021 at 4 PM EETThe technology group Wärtsilä will supply an 8-megawatt (MW) / 32-megawatt hour (MWh) energy storage system to Colbun, one of the largest power generation companies in Chile, to accelerate its transition to renewable energy as the country targets carbon neutrality by 2050. This is Wärtsilä’s first energy storage project in South America. The order was booked to Wärtsilä order intake in Q3, 2021 and the system is expected to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2022. Wärtsilä will supply the energy storage system
