First gas filling station opened in Sipoo to serve in particular the logistics hub in the area
The energy company Gasum has expanded its gas filling station network into Sipoo. The first station in Sipoo has now opened in the Bastukärr Logistics Park and provides compressed gas for heavy-duty vehicles and for the needs of light transport equipment and passenger cars. Gasum has opened two new gas filling stations in Oulu. To date, these stations are Gasum’s northernmost and significantly expand the company’s network of filling stations in Finland to enable gas-fueled long-distance transport from the southern regions of the country to the north. Gasum and IKEA Finland are stepping up their collaboration during 2019: Gasum will open a gas filling station in conjunction with the IKEA store in Raisio. In addition, the aim is to open stations at the Kuopio and Tampere stores later on this year. The gas filling stations already in operation in conjunction with IKEA stores in Lommila, Espoo, and Porttipuisto, Vantaa, have been very popular among consumers. The number of gas-fueled cars increased again in Finland. There were several factors behind gas being more commonly used as a fuel, such as willingness to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from transport and the highly popular campaign offering biogas at a fixed price.
