    Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for project establishment to create a basic capability for satellite launches from SSC’s Esrange Space Center. “This is an important step in our effort to establish a leading capability to launch satellites from mainland Europe.     In conjunction with an additional general meeting today, Anne Gynnerstedt was elected new Chair of the Board of SSC. Meanwhile, Lotta Mellström was elected new board member. Anne Gynnerstedt has been a board member of SSC since 2015, and acting Chair of the Board since September 30, 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Law from Stockholm University and has extensive experience from the airline and defense industries. Most recently she held a position for 12 years as Sr Vice President, Head of Legal and Corporate Security and Resilience in Vattenfall. Anne Gynnerstedt replaces Anna Kinberg Batra.

    Today, at 08.38 UTC, the Swedish space industry reached an impressive milestone as the 600[th] suborbital rocket, MAPHEUS-15, was launched from SSC spaceport Esrange Space Center in Kiruna. The science rocket reached an altitude of 309 km carrying a payload containing 21 different experiments.
