PELOTONIA FUNDRAISING CONTRIBUTES TO 11 NEW CANCER RESEARCH GRANTS AT OHIO STATE

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) announced 11 new Idea Grants awarded through the 2013 Intramural Research Program.

These multiyear research grants, which total $1.4 million and present creative approaches to understanding and curing cancer, are a way to help teams of scientists at Ohio State start projects that can later attract larger external grants. The Idea Grants are funded primarily by dollars raised through Pelotonia, a grassroots bicycle tour established in 2009 to raise money for cancer research at Ohio State. Forty Idea Grants have been awarded in the past four years since the inception of Pelotonia at an investment exceeding $4 million.
