Major rhino horn trader sentenced to 40 years behind bars

A Thai national, Chumlong Lemtongthai, has been sentenced to 40 years imprisonment for his involvement in the illegal trade of rhino horns from South Africa. This is the harshest sentence given for a wildlife crime in the country to-date. Today Minister for Trade Ewa Björling inaugurates a new sulphur treatment plant in Nynäshamn. Specialty oil company Nynas AB invests nearly SEK 600 million in the new facility, which means that emissions from sulphur recovery are reduced to a fifth of current emissions.The plant is designed to provide high reliability and is another important step in Nynas efforts to ensure high delivery reliability to customers. Nynas produces 400,000 tons of specialty oils in Nynäshamn of which more than 95% goes to markets outside Sweden. The value of these exports is close to SEK 4 billion per year.
