Tamro medicines go by PostNord’s biogas trucks – driven by climate goals and legislation governing the transport of medicines
Tamro’s logistics are driven by climate goals and legislation governing the transport of medicines and health products. With Tamro’s partner Post Nord’s biogas-powered vehicles, transport is safe, cost-effective and climate friendly. Some of the transports of Tamro, Finland’s leading medicines and health and wellbeing products distributor and service provider, reach customers with the help of Gasum biogas. Since Tamro’s customers can be found across Finland from large cities and built-up areas to the smallest localities, many transport kilometers are clocked up each week. Logistics are a
Kuusakoski, a pioneering Finnish company in the recycling business, started using its first compressed natural gas (CNG) truck in early September. Gas is a low-emission alternative to conventional fuels and has a key role in reducing emissions in transport. The use of gas-fueled vehicles has grown at speed in the logistics sector. The number of gas-fueled vehicles has grown at an amazing rate in the heavy-duty transport sector. The autumn saw Kuusakoski, a pioneering player in the recycling sector, start to use its first gas-fueled truck, which serves customers in the Uusimaa region.
Growing numbers of transport companies are renewing their fleets to make them more environmentally friendly as Gasum expands its filling station network. NCS Finland Oy, a transport and logistics company, and its subcontractor Pinecape Oy brought into use a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled Volvo tractor unit in July. The use of LNG in transport can reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the lifecycle of the fuel by more than 20% compared with diesel. The EU’s ambitious emissions targets to curb climate change also create a challenge for logistics companies to reduce transport emissions. The
Gasum will deliver liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Eastman Chemical Company in Oulu, Finland starting from second half of 2020. The company’s switch to LNG is part of Eastman’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The LNG will be delivered from Manga LNG terminal in Tornio, Finland. The LNG terminal is significantly improving the availability of LNG for marine, traffic and industrial segments in Northern Finland and Sweden. The LNG will be delivered from Gasum’s LNG intermediate storage tank at the Manga LNG terminal in Tornio. The terminal is the biggest LNG terminal in the Nordics,
Energy company Gasum is today opening its second gas filling station for heavy-duty vehicles in Sweden. The filling station, located in Norrköping, is a part of Gasum’s ambitious plan to build a Nordic network of 50 liquefied gas stations for heavy duty vehicles located in high traffic areas by early 2020s. The first filling station in Sweden was opened in Västerås in May, and in Finland there are already six stations.Alternative fuel options for traditional fossil fuels are gaining popularity as new emission reduction targets are being set nationally in Sweden as well as internationally by
Gasum, Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority (HSY) and Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) are collaborating in studies into sludge derived biochar produced through pyrolysis of sewage sludge and the properties of this char. The Sludge Derived Biochar Project aims to promote the safe and efficient utilization of nutrients and carbon contained in sewage sludge. Pyrolysis equipment of Gasum’s Topinoja, Turku, biogas plant is used to produce the sludge derived biochar material for further analyses in the project. The energy company Gasum is taking part in the Sludge Derived
Gasum and IKEA Finland are stepping up their collaboration during 2019: Gasum will open a gas filling station in conjunction with the IKEA store in Raisio. In addition, the aim is to open stations at the Kuopio and Tampere stores later on this year. The gas filling stations already in operation in conjunction with IKEA stores in Lommila, Espoo, and Porttipuisto, Vantaa, have been very popular among consumers. Since their opening, the new stations have provided clean fuel to cover a distance of more than 4 million km driven and reduced CO2 emissions from transport by around 600 tonnes compared
The winner of The Voice of Finland singing competition starting in January will not only receive the title but also gets to choose an environmentally friendly gas-fueled car to use for a year from the SEAT TGI gas hybrid range running on low-emission and environmentally friendly biogas. The prize also includes a year’s worth of free biogas from Gasum gas filling stations.Season 8 of the popular singing competition The Voice of Finland kicks off in January on the Finnish TV channel Nelonen. The Finnish dairy manufacturer Valio’s first biogas-fueled delivery vehicle was taken into service in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area in September. Valio also takes part in biogas production by supplying waste generated in food production to Gasum’s biogas plants. For many years, Valio has been testing a variety of vehicles using environmentally friendly fuels. The biogas pilot started this autumn was inspired by Valio’s circular economy thinking where the aim is to recover the waste generated in dairy production. In addition to taking part in biogas production, Valio is also introducing a
