    SSAB and its subsidiary Ruukki Construction will this year again donate roofing products to the non-governmental organization OperationAid for the reconstruction of houses in Ukraine. In addition, SSAB will donate almost 20 tonnes of steel to make around 750 field stoves.   The roof profiles, flashings and fasteners donated by Ruukki Construction will be used to rebuild or repair the roofs of buildings damaged by the war in the Mykolaiv region.     Humanitarian reconstruction work in Ukraine, coordinated by the Swedish charity organization OperationAid, has progressed to repair houses damaged by Russian aggression.     SSAB in Italy now runs production with fossil-free energy

    SSAB Swedish Steel S.p.A, established in Ghedi, Italy in 1995, installed solar panels on the roof of their production facility at the end of 2023. The SSAB Ghedi Steel Service Center production now operates fully with fossil-free energy, supporting SSAB’s strategy towards a more sustainable world. The new steel roof for the SSAB Ghedi Steel Service Center uses a trapezoidal profile provided by Ruukki Construction, a division of the SSAB Group, and is made from sustainable GreenCoat® color coated steel. GreenCoat® color coated steels use Swedish rapeseed oil in the coating.

    Ruukki Construction concludes cost-adjustment program

    SSAB's subsidiary Ruukki Construction has completed the cost-adjustment program announced in June 2023. The company-wide adjustment measures resulted in a total reduction of 182 jobs in Ruukki's operating countries.     Plannja, a manufacturer of sheet metal products and part of Ruukki Construction, will be the first in Scandinavia to deliver residential roofing products featuring fossil-free steel.     Introducing the world’s first building with fossil-free steel

    Peab and SSAB have taken the next step in their collaboration and now, together with Ruukki Construction and the property company Wihlborgs, present the world’s first building with fossil-free steel in Lund, Sweden. The building’s wall and roof structures have been designed and produced by Ruukki Construction. Parts of the building were manufactured using fossil-free steel from SSAB.
