Joining the council makes complete sense due to the matching vision of Hilti to “Making Construction Better” and UKGBC of a “Better Built Environment”. We look forward to collaborating with current members and contributing to future projects.
Margaux Wibin, Hilti Great Britain's sustainability manager
Productivity in construction lags behind other sectors, and has stagnated for over 20 years as a result. Construction is one of the least digitised sectors, but this means there is huge opportunity. The construction sector can make significant gains in productivity and thus profitability by embracing the advantages of new technologies, IoT and digitalisation. As an example, our customers have tried many things to manage, optimise and track small tools and equipment, but it’s still one of the biggest challenges they face today. Our research shows that each jobsite loses on average 2 days per month of productivity due to workers searching for tools, or not having the right performing tools. I strongly believe we can make construction better, and we, at Hilti, deliver productive solutions, software and services to make it so. We have what is needed to become the best productivity partner of our customers.
Thibaud Lefebvre
Beyond our ambition to become CO2-neutral by 2023, we are also tackling emissions outside of our own operations on our path to net-zero. With our commitment to science-based targets we will decrease emissions along the entire value chain. This supports our customers’ sustainability initiatives and enables us to contribute to the much-needed transformation of our industry.
Jahangir Doongaji, Hilti Group CEO.
At Hilti we have long known the importance of prioritising the health and safety of construction workers alongside offering the most productive solution to our customers. The Exoskeleton is a demonstration of our commitment to improve working conditions in construction. Musculoskeletal disorders are a leading cause of absence and long-term health issues in construction, and we hope others in the sector follow suit in prioritising employee safety.
Hilti's Head of Product Marketing Northern Europe, Sebastiaan Groenhuijsen
We are very excited to bring this new platform to our customers in Great Britain. From customer feedback on what kind of innovations they would find useful we know this will make a huge difference to their operations in many ways. We are proud to deliver the most comprehensive solutions to solving some of the bottlenecks of construction sites today, increasing productiveness, introducing state-of-the-art data-driven solutions and improving health and safety at the construction sites
Sebastiaan Groenhuijsen, Head of Product Marketing Northern Europe at Hilti
Hilti invests in software as a way to increase customer productivity, and customers expect us to provide options to integrate other software products. With the launch of ON!Track Unite our customers can truly take productivity to new heights, while keep relying on a solution at the forefront of innovation. ON!Track is one of the very few asset management solutions which offers such an advanced open API portfolio and integration marketplace. The large ON!Track customer base and the pressing customers’ need for integrations are also a great opportunity for offering integrations with Hilti software. For us, this launch represents a key piece of the open ecosystem of integrated applications that we are expanding, and it strengthens Hilti’s leadership in the digital construction space
Rainer Ringgenberg, General Manager for GB and Head of Region Northern Europe
All of our sustainability efforts are ultimately to benefit the wider environment rather than us as a business. Our target of carbon neutrality is to ensure we are in line with global efforts to tackle climate change, but we have long focused on sustainability efforts in all areas of our business, with initiatives like our tool recycling scheme. Choosing Kia was a strategic choice as we are confident their EV pipeline is strong enough to support us through further rollouts in the future.
Hilti’s Head of Finance and Head of Sustainability, Annette Boren
This is yet another great example of how seamlessly Kia’s electric cars can fit into a busy fleet with exacting requirements. With a reassuring 282-mile range from just one charge, a practical interior and a big boot, the e-Niro ‘4+’ alleviates many of the typical concerns fleets have when going electric. Kia’s seven-year/100,000 mile warranty as standard across the whole range, great residual values and low total cost of ownership add to the attraction.
John Hargreaves, General Manager for Fleet and Remarketing at Kia UK Limited
We understand that the working environment is rapidly changing, with many of us now balancing commitments at home and work. We truly believe in a caring culture that allows colleagues to explore their strengths and nurture their potential – its “where their best belongs”. That’s why we champion a genuine work-life balance. We proactively provide a wide range of physical, emotional, social and financial benefits and resources; developed inclusive workplaces with wellbeing at its heart, along with flexible ways of working. We’re delighted to have been recognised for our Wellbeing efforts by Great Places to Work, but keeping our colleagues safe, happy and healthy will continue to be a priority for us.
Nicola Brazewell, Head of HR for Hilti GB
The recovery trend in the construction industry continued during the last four months of 2021. We were able to maintain double-digit growth in a relatively stable currency environment and fully compensate for the coronavirus-related decline in sales of the previous year. This has allowed us to close the year well above the pre-crisis level in local currencies.
CEO Christoph Loos
Connectivity is rapidly changing our industry. Through this unique partnership, we are excited to leverage our joint expertise to also further connect tools, machinery and service vans around construction sites in the near future - ultimately providing customers with innovative and integrated solutions that improve productivity and profitability.
Michael Neidow, EVP at Hilti and Head of the Tool Services Business Unit.
By partnering with global market leader Hilti, we can further realize the collective digital business transformation of our industry. Together, we are uniquely positioned to help customers unlock insights from light equipment and tools, providing ample opportunity in decision-making, efficiency and continuous learning. The partnership goes way beyond standard ISO feeds and builds deep integration where data insights are now being made available across the two platforms in real time. The integration will deliver a standardized and stronger customer experience out of the box - eliminating the need for custom configuration and expensive IT integrations.
Soeren Brogaard, CEO of Trackunit.
For our HYVERT product to stay superior, we need to use superior supporting equipment, so it’s with great pride that we announce a new business partnership with Hilti (GB). Every HYVERT living wall we install is subject to a prior assessment of the surface to be covered, whether it be concrete, brick or an internal partition-wall. We have hypothesized all likely surfaces with Hilti, and they have recommended the most appropriate tools, fixtures and fittings for each scenario. Hilti is an instantly recognisable brand name when it comes to construction tools and equipment with an international reputation for quality and durability. Investing heavily and exclusively using Hilti products was an easy decision for us to make.
Managing Director of I Want Plants, Richard Rowlands
At Hilti we like to do things differently, creating technologies, software and services which clearly stand out from the rest. They’re values shared by I Want Plants. This partnership builds on the synergy between the two family-owned, progressive businesses. We’re proud to join forces with I Want Plants to install its world-class HYVERT living walls and biophilic displays, and to work together to transform UK cities into sustainable green spaces.
Shane Dixon, Project Specialist at Hilti (GB)
“The acquisition of Fieldwire will accelerate Hilti’s capability to deliver productivity to our customers through software solutions. Since digitalization has become a major driver of productivity in construction, Hilti has been investing in digital solutions for construction professionals. This acquisition will strengthen our software portfolio and is a logical step towards our vision of becoming the leading digitalization partner for our customers. We intend to continue investing in the platform to create the next market leader in construction project management software.”
Christoph Loos, CEO of the Hilti Group
“We started Fieldwire to help construction contractors empower their teams, drive field productivity and create stronger, more profitable companies. With Hilti, we have found a partner that truly shares our values and at the same time allows us to speed up our product development for our customers in new and existing markets. We are thrilled to be joining the Hilti Group.”
Yves Frinault, Fieldwire’s Co-founder & CEO
This is the fifth time that Hilti has been awarded the global accolade as a World’s Best Workplace. If once is happenstance and twice is coincidence, thrice or more definitely shows the effect of the continuous efforts of our teams. Today, organizations distil their unique culture into a set of values to differentiate themselves on the market, in the eyes of business partners, employees as well as of prospective employees. For us, this is not just a claim, it is part of our DNA. The acid test for a company culture is when things get difficult, which is exactly what has happened since early 2020. This global crisis has proven that, at Hilti, we truly care for our people and all other stakeholders
Matthias Gillner, Member of Hilti’s Executive Board
During the beginning of my career, I must admit I faced adversity and it wasn’t always easy. As I progressed, I was inspired by all of the women I met in the construction field. I learned from their passion and experience, which had a really positive influence on me.
Precy Owens
The recovery trend in the global construction industry has continued and we have made a good start to the new fiscal year. It is pleasing to note that we have not only made gains compared with the low basis from 2020, but also achieved growth of around 6 percent in local currencies versus the first four months of 2019
Christoph Loos, CEO
When Covid hit, I had to work out how to deliver effective training to Hilti employees in a format that I never thought was possible. We were faced with the challenge of converting all of our material into a digital format, meaning we lost a key element of the training which was hands-on experience with the tools.
Michaela Hunter, Training Officer
My team is national based so before the pandemic, I would usually spend 2-3 nights a week away from home. Over the past year, that hasn’t been possible and I haven’t been able to join my colleagues in their cars during field rides.
Charlie Ashworth, Implementation & Care Manager for Tool Services
Working in Logistics during the pandemic has hugely challenged us as a team, as we simply can’t do our job remotely. The biggest impact it had for me personally was the greater focus of putting people first. I have always looked to do this, but the stress and pressure the team were under gave greater emphasis to keeping them safe – both physically and mentally.
Emma Ross, Regional Head of Warehousing
As a team lead, one of the key areas of focus for me during the pandemic was to remain close to the team – especially by having more regular ‘check-in’ meetings. More frequent and open conversations about personal circumstances is a lot more prevalent now than before. Whilst personal well-being is always an important factor in developing a high-performing team, the situation demonstrated just how important it is.
Kim Walowsky, Head of Digital, Brand & Communication
My impressions of the Northern Europe region have been very positive so far. I feel really welcomed and everyone has helped me to integrate. People are very passionate about what they do here, and there’s a strong resilience – especially after everything that happened last year. I’m really happy to be here.
Rainer Ringgenberg, Head of Region Northern Europe
We understand how important productivity and health and safety are to our customers, which is why we’re always looking for new ways to enhance both. Direct fastening in general is much safer than traditional drilling and fixing, but the DX 6 gives workers that ease of use and versatility we know they look for, so we’re really excited to see what they think.
Arman Ahmad, Hilti Product Manager for Direct Fastening
We are convinced that long-term success is only secured through business decisions that value environmental, people and social aspects equally with economic factors.
Christoph Loos, CEO of the Hilti Group
We are aware that this is a journey with several stations still ahead of us. But we have set ourselves ambitious goals, are committed to the principles of the UN Global Compact and will leave no stone unturned. At the same time, we also want to support our customers in the construction industry in becoming more sustainable
Christoph Loos, CEO of the Hilti Group
We are very happy with the outcome of this succession planning cycle, providing the next generation of highly talented Hilti team members the great chance to formulate the future corporate strategy and to lead Hilti to the next level of sustainable success. It is satisfying to see that in the future Board of Directors the family will be represented again, underlining the character of a family company with its long-term orientation and strong values
Michael Hilti, Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors
2020 was a turbulent business year which also shows in our figures. Overall, we came through the pandemic year with a black eye and were able to avoid compromising the financial stability of our company. At the same time, we continued to invest into our strategic priorities
Christoph Loos, Hilti CEO
The continuous development of our products, and persistent research into new technologies for our customers, result in numerous patent applications every year. Ranking among the top 100 most active applicants underscores Hilti's capacity for innovation
Andreas Keil, Head of Intellectual Property
Let’s consider MEP planning: Without BIM, the support structures are planned on-site and separately by each trade involved in the construction process which can lead to higher costs and a reduced productivity. Whereas BIM facilitates end-to-end planning of all trades in one go, so that support structures can be shared. This results in greater productivity on site and less material wastage
Karl Johnson, Technical Marketing Manager for BIM & MEP
The DCH 150-SL builds on the strengths of its predecessor in terms of speed, durability, cutting depth, accuracy and dust extraction. We’ve designed the tool with workers in mind and we’re excited to be adding this to our Diamond portfolio
Allan Juul-Nielsen, Hilti Product Manager
The productivity of the construction industry has been lagging behind other sectors for years. Margin pressure and shortages of skilled labor are already facts of life in our industry and make it increasingly difficult to overcome productivity shortfalls. But leveraging the opportunities offered by digitization will compensate for it. We do this by intelligently linking processes, teams and data.
Jan Doongaji, Member of the Executive Board, Hilti Group
We looked at which routine work on the construction site is among the most stressful, and that is primarily overhead work. From the beginning, it was important to us to develop a robotic solution that supports our customers where it is most needed. The Hilti Jaibot takes over the most strenuous and exhausting tasks, working alongside the installation team.
Julia Zanona, Product Manager for Robotics at Hilti
